Simonynsky to Face Former Club as Youth Root for the Top Spot

Wazalendo Youth are back in action against another university side, Kimathi University, just a month after their last match against Daystar University. This one however will have some spice to it as Simon Mwangi aka Simonynsky formerly of Kimathi University will be on the opposite side of his mentors for the first time since he left the club early this year.

A win would take the Youth team to the top of the log with seven points form three matches. Skipper James Omondi is adamant that the team will be able to walk away with the three points, “Kimathi are a strong side. They have very fast attackers and a ‘Never say die’ attitude. This was evident in the last game. They come from behind to beat us in the last 10 minutes of the game”, he adds.

“A win will definitely take us to the top. It will be a tough game for us though. We need to be on the mark in our concentration and team work.”  Adds the skipper.

“This year we are a better side than we have been before and I believe we are a force to reckon with in the national league and we are looking forward for good results”. Omondi reiterates.

It will be the first time Simon Mwangi will be playing against his former club after signing for Wazalendo in the January transfer window.

“Playing for Wazalendo is a dream come true for me. I’ve always wanted to play for this club. To wear the green and white jersey makes me proud to be a member of the best club in the country.” said Simon

“Kimathi will always have a special place in my heart. I still consider them as my family. I’m glad I was part of that team and to see it become a great club. Time had come for me to move on. I needed a new challenge and is my new home.” Adds Simon aka Simonynsky

The match that will kick off at 4pm local time at City Park Hockey Stadium is expected to be a cracker as both sides have talented young players who harbor great ambitions for success.
