(Press Release) Wazalendo Hockey Youth Programme Development Award

Wazalendo invites your media house to come and cover the above function which will be held at City park hockey Stadium on 21st April 2016 from 4.00pm to 5.30pm

The vision of the Young Players’ Development (YPD) program at Wazalendo hockey club is to recruit, nurture and develop young players with the right attitude for success both in the sport and in life.

The YPD program encompasses recruitment, introduction to the sport, training on game skills & playing culture, sportsmanship attitude, competition attitude, personal responsibility as well as mentoring on general aspects of life.
The age group for this program is between 10 years old to 20 years old, however there are exceptions in cases of players older than this group who are still learning the sport.

Since its inception the Programme has had over 60 young boys and girls joining the programme. This has seen their skills improve and even has helped the pupils join good schools of their choice for both the academic performance and as well as hockey performance.

The programme has seen several well wishers sponsor kids who have the hockey talent and perform well in school. This function is to reward the young players for their effort both in school and in the game. This time round we were privileged to have donation from Ethan Holmes who is the proprietor of Holmes Water Tanks based in Australia. Mr Holmes who was introduced to us by the director of Wazalendo YPD. Engineer Moses Majiwa was excited to be part of the sponsorship and has managed to purchase equipment and awards for the young boys and girls. This event therefore is to show appreciation to the young boys and girls for their effort.
